Our story
Leading confidently into the electricity revolution, from day one
Established with the idea of ‘taking electricity where it isn’t’, RedEarth was co-founded by Charlie Walker, Chris Winter, and Bruce Ebzery in 2013 and named for the red centre of Australia, where they initially sought to take electricity.
The first few years were spent researching and developing easy-to-install battery energy storage systems specifically for the Australian market and conditions. Still, as consumers started using more electricity as they increased their use of technology and electrical appliances, coupled with the emergence of electric vehicles, the company started looking towards how electricity will be used and relied on in the future – and how customers could financially benefit from the excess electricity they generated through their solar panels.
Seeing electricity as an asset that can provide a financial return, RedEarth has evolved from battery and energy storage system manufacturing to include technology, developing its proprietary software that enables home and business customers to become their own ‘private power plant’.
Continuing to focus on the end consumer with its innovative, proprietary behind-the-meter technology, RedEarth’s Private Power Plant gives its customers greater control over the solar power they generate by providing ways to monetise their excess electricity – such as through wholesale energy trading, green crypto mining, smart EV charging, or even deploying electricity at a time when it makes the most financial sense for the customer.
A Private Power Plant not only makes customers energy self-sufficient; it also provides a way to generate revenue from their investment while realising their potential to be an integral part of Australia’s broader electrical infrastructure as the country continues its transition towards renewables.
